Prof. Dr. Anke Höffler

 I have been conducting frontier research for the past 25 years. This is evidenced by: 

• 48 peer reviewed published articles and 17 book chapters, h-index: 52. 

• including “Greed and Grievance in Civil Wars” (co-authored with Paul Collier) which was the most cited economics paper in Q1 2010. 

• Due to my academic publications, media discussions and meetings with policy makers my work has had an impact on the current thinking on development issues, in particular civil war and violence. 

• In November 2024 I was made a member of the Leopoldina, German National Academy of Sciences. 

• In May 2018 I received an Alexander von Humboldt professorship, Germany’s highest award for international research.

• I have received funding from the EC, ESRC, DFID, World Bank, OECD, BMZ, BMBF, OSI, Norwegian Research Council.

• I have been invited to present my research to international policy shapers, for example The World Bank, the UN, the OECD, the EC, DFID, GIZ and BMZ.
